Adventuring towards Route 66

Hello from Kentucky! Our first 3 days have been filled with adventure. After working Tuesday, we left town around 2:40 with a plan to drive as far as possible. Tried making it to McDonough, GA, but at 11:30pm wound up at a WalMart in Macon. I know when to call it.

Meanwhile, my daughter and her boyfriend are on their own epic road trip. With a wedding last weekend in Pittsburgh and a wedding this weekend in Vermont, they decided to fly to Pitt, drive to NYC (where her very romantic boyfriend PROPOSED), then celebrate with friends in the Hamptons, before driving to VT!!!

I love that adventure is happening all around me. My dear friend Jeneen has been adventuring around France, dear cousin Dyanne and Tom are planning to adventure around England where she's been invited to teach a course at Oxford, and another friend Rhiannon and her family are criss-crossing the USA!!

We found our way to The Candied Rib in Mt. Juliet, TN. Seriously great food, owned by Lisa and Craig! If you're in the area, stop in, try it out, and tell them CrazyLady sent you! After that we met my bestest friend since we were 12, Terista and her awesome hubby at a campground near Mammoth Cave, dinner and catching up in Bowling Green, sampling whiskeys at the Liquor Barn, then sampling a couple more at my campsite until a crazy storm chased them back to their hotel and me to bed!

Day 3 found us hiking Frozen Niagara Cave @ Mammoth Cave National Park, which was beautiful! Then we decided to do a Rickhouse tour at Heaven Hill Distilleries. What a cool experience, I never knew how little I knew about whiskey and bourbon.

We made it back to their house, and had an evening filled with great conversations, great steaks, and yes, great old-fashions!!!
