Eye of the Hurricane

Good morning, Sunshines! Have you ever felt like life was swirling out of control around you? The past couple of months have seen many challenges in the lives of my loved ones - January has been especially tough. Last night, it dawned on me that it's not me specifically, but it's as if I'm standing in the eye of the storm watching all these situations around me swirling seemingly out of control. I cannot do anything. Man, I hate feeling incapable of fixing things - for me or for my loved ones. Under further inspection, the only thing I can do is offer love, support, and prayer. Be there when I can. Be an ear when needed. Be a shoulder to cry on. Someone recently told me that praying isn't the "only thing" you can do, it's everything.

It also occurred to me that I need to focus on what I can do. Create, write, clean, love, make phone calls, drive 20 minutes to the hospital - tangible actions. Sometimes in life we have to gain perspective, for me it helps to dump it all out and look at everything. My great grandma had a plate on her kitchen wall, I read it all the time. As I get older, it's meaning becomes more clear.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. That wisdom sure takes a while to kick in, but it gets easier!

On this note, I'm going to focus on those tangibles - this Crazy Lady has a large event next month to get ready for. If you live in the Palatka area (between Gainesville and St. Augustine) stop by the Annual Azalea Festival February 22nd and 23rd and say hello!

Have a love filled February - it's coming fast, and I'm claiming a February full of joy, light, and love!

My grandparents had the serenity prayer on the wall above their kitchen table. I didn’t appreciate as a kid, but the older I get the more I repeat it to myself.
